Donna was first elected to the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board in 2010. She has vigorously represented the people of Barrhaven — consistently present in the community, and accessible to all.
She has gained a reputation for strong leadership, making sound decisions based on evidence, and sound fiscal management.
"The status quo is not working. Barrhaven West deserves better."
In June 2021, Donna was the only Trustee with the courage to vote against cancelling the School Resource Officer Program. She then vowed to return the OCDSB to a positive, proactive relationship with the Ottawa Police Service — a commitment she fulfilled after her re-election in 2022.
A northern Ontario upbringing, Parliament Hill, and a career built on serving people.
Originally from Kapuskasing, Ontario, Donna attended high school and university in Sudbury to pursue her passion for competitive swimming.
She earned her BA (Hons) in Political Science at Laurentian University, then moved to Ottawa to pursue her dream of working on Parliament Hill — serving various cabinet ministers, including the Deputy Prime Minister of Canada.
Donna later made a career change, attending Carleton University to obtain her BSW and MSW, and went on to work with many vulnerable populations.
